the studio
Working on the seven 50” wide handlooms, master weaver and colorist, Pam Bartl, and her assistant, Cindy, handweave the fabric, thread by thread. Each piece is woven as a work of art. After being woven, the fabric is cut off the loom, preshrunk, dried, pressed and readied for the cutting table, where Pam cuts each part of the garment, one piece at a time. Only she can cut the fabric into the piece’s component parts, insuring that her initial design perceptions of the work are carried into completion. Next, the pieces are overlocked and Cindy constructs the garmentJesamie has added a new twist to the clothing line-fleece vests with handwoven decorative facings and collars.
